Frederick H. Schuchardt, Co-founder, President and CEO

Frederick H. Schuchardt is an inventor, innovator, and proven entrepreneur with over 40 years’ experience in the software, communications, and renewable power industries, including 20 years as the key international marketing and operating executive of large and small software and communications companies.  

He has participated in private and public offerings and is experienced in leading high technology development teams and product-to-market successes. 

In 2007, after a successful career in the software and communications industries, Schuchardt ventured into the renewable energy and power industry. Schuchardt co-invented the “Mass Magnifier”, a breakthrough technology that made flywheels usable and practical for long-term energy storage. 

In 1996 Schuchardt founded Bridgeway Systems and used an automated approach to solving the Y2K problem, applying knowledge-based transformation technology. From 1996 to 2001 Bridgeway Systems was a leading provider of Y2K solutions. 

In 1983 he pioneered Office Suite Software called “InteSoft”, a modularly integrated family of PC productivity products with a consistent user interface. “InteSoft” was a precursor to Microsoft Office. Schuchardt was also president of MicroPro World Trade, the international division of WordStar International, where he distinguished himself as the head of the word processing world market. 

While vice president and general manager of GTE Information Systems International, a subsidiary of GTE and international communications company, Schuchardt was responsible for all operations in Europe and the Middle East for the Brussels, Belgium-based Company. Other positions held in the past include Manager of Application Development for American Airlines' System, the world's first automated airline reservation system. 

Schuchardt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from Long Island University, has studied International Affairs at Georgetown University and MBA Program at Boston University, Brussels, Belgium Campus.

Dr. Eric Aylaian, Co-founder, and CTO

Dr. Eric Aylaian has over 30 years' experience in hi-technology, including MTBF/Weibull analysis, failure analyses, SEM/TEM, EDX/EDS, TOF-SIMS, Material analysis, advanced chemical engineering, advanced metallurgical analysis, PCB design, PB test, Manufacturing (on-shore and off-shore), management, mentoring, consulting and numerous other specialties.

As Director of Engineering at Integrated Photovoltaics, Dr. Aylaian supported the development of a “synthetic” solar cell, utilizing amorphous doped/undoped silica deposited onto various substrates via PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) followed by laser or heat ZMR (Zone Melting Recrystallization) and follow-up studies utilizing several clinical methodologies to enhance lifetime carrier mobility and cell efficiency. 

As Principal Engineer at KLA-Tencor he reviewed and redesigned, as required, multiple products within various inspection lines to enhance micro, macro and system performance, both analog and digital. He interfaced with design, systems and/or marketing groups in other divisions. 

As Director of Reliability and Testing at Extreme Networks, Dr. Aylaian was responsible for all F/A activities, including components, all Reliability Studies, all Test Development, all qualification analyses for components. Performed COS analyses for new PCBAs, designed new products, and developed new processes, by managing and mentoring at least 32 engineers, scientists and technicians.

Dr. Aylaian holds a PhD in Solid State Physics from Century University; a MSEE in Device Physics and a MSME in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College and University, and a BSME of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.

Marc Rahlves, COO

Marc Rahlves has over 20 years of experience in general management, operations, and strategy consulting. He has lived and worked in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Australia. 

Rahlves worked at Bain & Company for nearly  a decade  and was a manager in the consumer good practice.  While at Bain, Marc worked on strategy development, operational and organizational improvement, and implementation projects across several industries, including automotive, financial services, telecom, IT, and consumer goods. He was also a founding member of Bain Germany's venture practice, bainlab.  

After Bain, Rahlves held senior leadership positions at social enterprises Fundacion Escuela Nueve and Nuru International, which have been recognized both for their social impact as well as being great workplaces.  Mostly recently, Marc was interim COO for OpenDrives, a technology startup that recently received its Series B funding. During his tenure, the company roughly doubled its staff size and exceeded its previous annual revenues in just one quarter.

Rahlves earned his MBA with emphasis on entrepreneurship from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and holds a BS in Business Administration (Finance and Information systems) from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
